He started singing and playing his guitar on the street at age 16 in the late 1980s, for money to buy records in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland. He left art school for rock and roll, and has never looked back. He has been continuously touring in Europe and North America since 1991.

Combining the styles of blues, country and Celtic traditions with the British invasion, Joe has been described as “all 5 Stones in one person”. His crafted songwriting style, together with his unique, golden voice and spartan har­monies, make him one of the most recognizable and melodic performers currently working in continental Europe’s alternative pop and rock scene.

Joe has played with a diverse portfolio of bands including Impure Thoughts, The Methylated Spirits, The Purple Rizla Experience, The Oul’ Bog Warriors, Ringwurm, The Jacobites, Nikki Sudden and the Last Bandits, and The Inside Tracks. He is a founding and continuing member of country-blues legends Two Dollar Bash, with whom he recorded 4 albums.

Joe’s first solo album, “New Planet”, was released in 2016 and he is currently working on the sequel, as well as a new album with his band the Strange Encounters.
